Spotted Fever (SF), previously known as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF), is a tick-borne disease that is caused by a bacterium, Rickettsia rickettsii. SF is the most common of several rickettsial infections, and has been found in every state except Vermont and Hawaii.
